What is Cancer Care Resources?

Cancer Care Resources is an Oregon nonprofit corporation that provides cancer rehabilitation services to individuals diagnosed with cancer and their families, to the extent health insurance does not provide coverage for such services. Interdisciplinary cancer rehabilitation services include guidance, counseling, rehabilitation and complementary care, which help individuals with cancer and their families maximize their quality of life and cope with the impact of cancer.

What is Cancer Care Resources’ relationship to medical oncology offices, cancer clinics and hospital programs?

Cancer Care Resources (Northwest Cancer Specialists Foundation) is a separate legal and financial entity. Cancer Care Resources collaborates with other community cancer care providers. Some programs are jointly taught and clients may receive services with more than one provider.

What is the mission of Cancer Care Resources?

The mission is to help individuals with cancer and their families maximize their quality of life and cope with the impact of cancer. Through an interdisciplinary team of cancer care professionals, individuals receive assistance in recognizing their needs, information and education about cancer and resources available to assist them, guidance in accessing services, and other counseling and support services. The goal is to help individuals and their families be as independent as possible within the limitations of the disease.

Who provides the services?

The staff includes nurses, social workers and other healthcare professionals, experienced and specially trained in cancer care.

Who pays for these services?

All services provided by Cancer Care Resources are free of charge. CCR’s funds come from charitable donations from the community, corporate gifts, grants, and fundraising within the community.

Does Cancer Care Resources give away money?

No. Cancer Care Resources is a public non-profit whose purpose is to provide services to those diagnosed with cancer.

Do I need a physician referral?

No, you do not, although referrals frequently come from physicians and we prefer to work in collaboration with you and your physician.
